How to play

A hidden word sits at the center. The words around it are its halo: synonyms, opposites, members of the same group, or close associations.

Every halo word hides its letters in the same pattern. Work out what connects them and guess the center word.

You get 4 guesses. Each wrong guess uncovers one more letter in every halo word. Solving in fewer guesses scores more: 5 points for one guess down to 2 for four.

Hard mode (switch it on before your first guess) shows only the first letter of each word and gives you 3 guesses. Points are doubled, and hard solves are marked ★ on the leaderboard.

Each week has a theme, and all seven puzzles that week fit it. The This week leaderboard adds up your points from those seven days.

A new Halo arrives every day at midnight UTC. Practice rounds don't count towards your stats or the leaderboard.
